Profile

Wang Qide is from Nanjiang, Sichuan Province, and as a member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) he has served as a deputy to the 12th, 13th and 14th National People’s Congress (NPC).

He majored in law at Sichuan Open University (OU), and he is the president of the specialised breeding cooperative of “Wulang” Yellow Goats and “Hongqi” pigs in Nanjiang Township, Sichuan Province. He was awarded “The Tenth National Entrepreneurship Star” and the “National Labour Role Model” in 2020.

One of Wang’s chief mottos is that real success cannot be realised unless the income of “our folk people” grows no matter “how successful one individual might be.” Wang has adhered to this principle for 16 years as he has worked to build“Nanjiang Yellow Goats” into a cultural brand. Several companies have been established to develop a modern industrial group, integrating the areas of breeding, processing, production, sales and leisure. The brand value of “Nanjiang Yellow Goats” has now reached more than 3.3 billion yuan.

The government work report proposes that continued efforts should be made to develop areas that have been lifted out of poverty. One goal is to promote abundant harvests in agricultural production and increase farmers’ income. In this regard, Wang has explored various possibilities, visiting farmers’ homes, listening to their opinions face-to-face while collecting and assessing feedback on their biggest problems. He has participated in several investigations and studies organised by Nanjiang Township, exploring possible development paths. “Through investigation and study,” he said, “I strongly believe that if we hope for long-term, sustainable development, the development of industry must be prioritised.”

Today, with the development of industries and improved living conditions, villagers are living better lives. At this year’s Two Sessions, Wang proposed that relevant sectors should continue improving the construction of infrastructure, including water, electricity, roads, gas and postal services. He called for strengthening the efforts to promote rural revitalisation, with appropriate measures taken according to local circumstances.
