On 29 September 2024, the "An Ode to New China, Forging Ahead in the New Era" cultural and artistic performance, held by the directly-affiliated institutions of the Ministry of Education (MOE) to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China, took place in Beijing.

Huai Jinpeng, secretary of the Party Leading Group and minister of the MOE, together with other ministry leaders such as Wang Jiayi, Wang Chengwen, Wu Yan, and Wang Guangyan, attended the event and presented awards to the representatives of the winning units. More than 2,000 people from various departments and affiliated units directly under the MOE participated. Following the concentrated performance and expert reviews, 15 first prizes, 15 second prizes, and 11 third prizes were selected. The Open University of China (OUC) won the first place among the first-prize winners.

The OUC choir is composed of 66 faculty members. During this performance, the choir sang "Defend the Yellow River" and "Glorious China" affectionately for the audience. Through the blend of grandeur and delicacy in their singing, they deeply commemorated the great achievements of the revolutionary predecessors, passionately praised the great Party, the great motherland, and the great era, expressed their sincere love and heartfelt blessings for the motherland, and demonstrated the strong sense of mission of the OUC to vigorously show its contributions on the new journey of building a leading country in education. Wang Qiming, secretary of the Party Committee and president of the OUC, along with Liu Xuanxuan, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, participated in the performance. The OUC's leadership team in Beijing watched the cultural and artistic performance on-site.

Previously, in July this year, the OUC choir won the first prize on behalf of the MOE in the "An Ode to New China, Forging Ahead in the New Era" singing competition organised by the Central and State Organs to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China. In September this year, they again represented the MOE in the singing performance and received widespread acclaim.
