I. Objectives

Under the guidance of “Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era”, and in order to foster virtue through education, the aim of this major is to train socialist builders strong in body and mind, skilled and ethical, and able to develop in an all-round way in terms of morality, intelligence, physical education, aesthetics, and labour education. The major will teach the basics of sports-event organisation and management, fitness and leisure-sports management and service, and sporting-venue operations and management; the basics of sports-related businesses and their operations and management; and the marketing of sporting goods, sports-market services and promotion, stadium maintenance and management, sports-industry operations and management, and so on.

II. Specialised Curriculum

The compulsory courses of this major include Management Principles, Sports Management, Sports Marketing, Introduction to the Sports Industry, Marketing Research and Forecasting, Sports- and Leisure-club Operations and Management, Operating and Managing Sports Facilities, Sporting-event Organisation and Management, Planning and Operations of Sporting Activities, Sports Agents, Human Resources and Salary Management, and Sports-industry Service and Communications Skills. The elective courses include Sports-club Management, Science-based Nutrition, Customer Communication and Relationship Management, E-commerce and Online Marketing, Entertainment-sports Management, Sporting-events Operations, and others. Furthermore, the variety of specialised electives includes Interpersonal Psychology, Marketing Psychology, Educational Psychology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Leisure Sports, Health Education, Sports Health and Rehabilitation, Youth-sports Guidance, School Sports, Swimming, Ball Games, Games in Sports, Traditional Sports of China, Basic Aerobics, Basics of Outdoor Sports, Outward Bound Training, Physical Training, Movement-based Activity Competitions and Organisation, Health and Physical Fitness, and Theory and Practice of Exercise.

III. Teaching Team and Resources

Experts from institutions such as Peking University, Beijing Sports University, the Capital University of Physical Education and Sports, and Chengdu Sport University specialising in sports operations and management are employed to undertake consultation and reviews, and give lectures, related to curriculum and resource construction.
