On 27 December, the Ministry of Education (MOE)convened the 2024 National Education Digitalisation Work Summary Meeting Huai Jinpeng, secretary of the Leading Party Group and minister of the MOE, announced the official launch of the Smart Education of China Lifelong Education Platform.

The launch of the Smart Education of China Lifelong Education Platform is a tangible step for the MOE to implement the guiding principles of the National Conference on Education and a significant milestone in establishing a "ubiquitous and accessible lifelong education system". So far, the Smart Education of China Platform has established a new resource structure with "four horizontal dimensions " covering basic education, vocational education, higher education, and lifelong education, and "five vertical dimensions" encompassing sound moral grounding, intellectual ability, physical vigour, aesthetic sensibility, and work skills.

The Smart Education of China ∙ Lifelong Education Platform leverages the strength of the entire education system and gathers high-quality resources from all sectors of society. It has launched an initial batch of 1,000 courses, categorised into six major sections: scientific literacy, workplace skills, cultural literacy, hobbies and interests, continuing education, and silver age classes. This platform offers learners with a diverse array of high-quality learning resources across various levels and forms, as well as personalised, intelligent, and convenient learning support services.

The platform adheres to the principle of "application first" and upholds the "3I" philosophy of integration, intelligence, and internationalisation. It focuses on "systemic resource development, personalised learning, and intelligent services", robustly supporting  the new pattern of collaborative education among schools, families, and society. The platform aims to enhance lifelong education support, contribute to the construction of a leading country in education, and facilitate the creation of a learning-oriented society and country where everyone can learn anytime and anywhere.

Under the strong leadership of the MOE's Leading Party Group and with the coordinated guidance of the MOE's General Office, Department of Science, Technology and Informatisation, and other relevant departments, the OUC has undertaken the task of developing the Smart Education of China Lifelong  Education Platform.
