Teachers' Reflections on the Lecture

YANG Shijian, Associate Professor, School of Economics and Management

Experiencing the power of role models close fills me with admiration and pride. I am also honoured to share the same identity as them - a teacher for the people. Recalling the touching deeds, I witnessed during my over one-year educational aid mission in Xinjiang, I have come to understand that as long as we hold the ideal and belief of "embracing the greater good and serving the nation with utmost sincerity," every teacher can be an "educator" of the times. On the journey to building a strong educational nation, as a teacher of the Open University, I will actively implement the University's lifelong education development strategy and integrate the spirit of educators into every aspect of my teaching.

FENG Li, Associate Professor and Deputy Dean, School of Agroforestry and Medicine (Rural Revitalisation College)

In rural revitalisation, education takes the lead. The touching stories shared by NONG Jiagui have made me deeply aware of the crucial role of education in rural revitalisation. Education is not only just about imparting knowledge; it's about lighting the beacon of hope and illuminating the future for rural children. By learning the spirit of educators, I have become more determined to actively engage in the open education cause with greater enthusiasm and make new and greater contributions to building a ubiquitous and accessible lifelong education system and promoting the rural revitalisation across the board.

ZHU Jin, Teacher, School of Humanities

From the teachers who gave the speeches, I saw the noble qualities of having a global vision, being brave in taking responsibility, and being willing to devote one's whole life to the cause of education. As educators in the new era, we should take them as role models, integrate the spirit of educators into every part of our teaching, always have a global vision, be brave in taking on responsibility, take the students' growth as our responsibility, and regard the development of education as our mission. We should write extraordinary stories in our ordinary work and contribute our part to cultivating more outstanding talent and promoting social progress.

CUI Jiaxing, Teacher, College of International Education (Office of Foreign Affairs; Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs)

A remark by CAE Academician SU Donglin, a professor at Beihang University, left a deep impression on me: "Today's continuous accumulation will eventually make others far behind!" This suddenly dawned on me that for any cause or job, an individual, as long as he keeps accumulating on a meaningful and valuable path, he can gather strength like a torch and illuminate the path to national rejuvenation and prosperity even if only a small step is taken forward at a time. We will surely play a greater role in promoting the development of open education and continuously contribute to realising the ideal of lifelong education, building a learning society, and cultivating talent for the country.

JIA Yihang, Teacher, School of Marxism

At the meeting, the in-depth interpretations of the spirit of educators by national outstanding teacher representatives, especially SU Donglin's stories, left a lasting impression on me. Professor SU has been deeply rooted in the front line of scientific research and education. For decades, she has dedicated herself to studying electromagnetic compatibility technology, imparting knowledge without reservation, and cultivating a continuous stream of outstanding talent. Education is not just about the imparting knowledge but also about nourishing the mind and shaping the soul. I will take them as role models, actively implement the University's strategic requirements, integrate the spirit of educators into the whole process of teaching, and strive to become a high-quality "dual-capability" teacher.
