14 September 2025, Beijing – The Closing Ceremony of the 2025 “Golden Age Cup” National Senior Arts Showcase & Performance was held at the Future Theatre of the China Soong Ching Ling Science & Culture Centre for Young People, Beijing, China. Jointly organised by the Seniors University of China (SUC) and China Education Television (CETV), the event presented a panoramic view of older adults’ vitality in the new era.
Designed to burnish “silver-age education” as a flagship brand, the event enriched the cultural life of older friends and showcased their vitality and elegance in the new era. The call for entries triggered an overwhelming response: branches and sub-branches of SUC, senior education institutions and relevant social groups across the country actively mobilised, and a large number of SUC students and older friends eagerly signed up. Around 40,000 senior arts lovers participate the event, with nearly 9,000 works submitted. Eight categories of vocal music, dance, instrumental music, traditional opera, recitation, fashion design & model display, soft-brush calligraphy and traditional Chinese painting produced a wealth of talent and a succession of dazzling performances that fully displayed older artists’ artistic creativity and vitality.
The Closing Ceremony distilled the best of the national showcase. Carefully curated highlights wove together vocal, dance and instrumental pieces, poetry recitals and opera excerpts, projecting the vigour and elegance of the “Golden Age” participants.
The Ceremony ended with the entire auditorium joining in “Defend the Yellow River” and “Ode to the Motherland”. Soaring melodies and resonant voices filled the venue, merging performers and audience in a heartfelt tribute to the nation and pushing the evening to its emotional peak - an exuberant, triumphant finale to this year’s Golden Age Cup.
With the 2025 “Golden Age Cup” National Senior Arts Showcase & Performance now closed, SUC, together with CETV, will stay true to their founding mission of serving the silver-age population, and keep building broader, more professional platforms where older friends can share cultural feasts and find a spiritual home - helping the silver generation shine still brighter and enjoy a fulfilling, joyful later life.
Highlights of the Closing Ceremony will be broadcast on multiple media outlets during the Double Ninth Festival, continuing to spread positive energy from the silver community and showcase the contemporary elegance of today’s elders.
