The "2025 National March 8th Red-Banner Holder" list has been announced, and multiple faculty members and students from the Open University of China (OUC) are among the honourees. These women have dedicated themselves to their work with unwavering commitment, shouldering responsibilities with quiet strength and reflecting their original aspirations through their prime years. They are trailblazers in their respective fields, and boundary-breakers in life. Starting today, let's get to know these exceptional OUC women, listen to their inspiring stories, and witness the radiance they bring.

Xing Maoyun, Han ethnicity and a member of the Communist Party of China (CPC), is a graduate of the 2021 Autumn Rural Regional Development programme from the Heilongjiang Branch of the Open University of China. She currently serves as the Secretary of Party Branch, Director of Yongfeng Village Committee, Limudian Town, Zhaodong City, Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province, as well as the General Manager of Heilongjiang Yucun Fragrant Rice Industry Company. In 2026, she was honoured as a “2025 National March 8th Red Banner Holder”. She has previously received honours including the “Second Suihua City Model of Dedication and Contribution” and the “Suihua City Advanced Worker”.

XING Maoyun gave up urban employment to return to her hometown and start a business. For many years, she has dedicated herself to grassroots rural work, steadfastly upholding her original aspiration of “seeking well-being for the people”. She has led her fellow villagers in developing specialty agriculture, gradually becoming the “pioneer” of Yongfeng Village. In 2009, she took the lead in establishing a cooperative with larger local households, facilitating the transfer of land from migrant households, involving dozens of impoverished families, and providing additional dividend bonuses for the elderly over 60 and left-behind children, thereby alleviating the concerns of migrant workers. She also made multiple visits to agricultural science institutes to learn high-yield techniques and actively applied for organic certification, transforming a small workshop into a modern agricultural enterprise. Through practical action, she has guided her fellow villagers along a path of prosperity through industrialisation and rural revitalisation through green agriculture.

For industrial revitalisation, XING Maoyun has focused deeply on green agriculture, championing over ten product lines, including Yucun fragrant millet, rice and coarse grains. In 2021, she facilitated the sale of these products to over 20 provinces and cities across the country, as well as exporting them to Republic of Korea and Japan. This significantly boosted the per capita income of the entire village by 8,900 yuan, marking the first time the village's per capita income surpassed 25,000 yuan that year. By 2025, the cultivation area for red millet had reached 2,750 mu, of which 1,750 mu had obtained organic certification. Through her efforts, Yongfeng Village has achieved thriving industries and prosperity for its villagers.

XING Maoyun has always kept the well-being of the villagers close to her heart. She regularly assists those in difficulty, personally donating 50,000 yuan towards the renovation of mud and grass houses and taking the lead in raising over 200,000 yuan to convert 34 mud and grass houses in the village into standard brick and tile houses. She has also secured funding to improve the village's infrastructure, transforming Yongfeng Village into a provincial-level Civilised Village and a provincial-level Ecological Village.

XING Maoyun has safeguarded the happy lives of the villagers through her exemplary actions as a woman leader, earning widespread recognition and praise from the entire village community. Her outstanding achievements have been extensively reported by authoritative media outlets such as The Paper, Suihua News Network, and CNR News.
