From 6th February 1979 when China Central Radio and TV University (CCRTVU) was established to July 2012 when the Open University of China (OUC) was unveiled, the radio and TV universities (RTVUs) have grown larger and stronger, formulating a school network including the CCRTVU, 44 provincial-level RTVUs, 1,000 prefectural-level RTVUs, and nearly 2,000 county-level RTVUs. The number of active students has exceeded several million, the largest in the world.

In July 2012, the Open University of China (OUC) was unveiled at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

During 15-16 September, 2017, a meeting in Beijing covered a pilot project on Learning Outcome Accumulation and Transfer in Higher Vocational Education, as well as included a working seminar on Credit Bank Construction of the Industrial Robotics Field in Machinery Industry.

After a busy day at work, Xiao Li, a nurse in a 3A hospital in Beijing, opens her computer and logs into the Open University of China’s (OUC) formative assessment system to complete a test for her course in the public affairs administration major.

In September, thousands of students returned to school to pursue their learning dreams. They stepped into the Open University of China (OUC), a university without walls, and began a new journey of study.

A five-person delegation headed by Li Ling, vice president of the Open University of China (OUC), visited Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia (Herzen University), Lomonosov Moscow State University, and European Distance and E-Learning Network to explore the potential for cooperation, resulting in a signed cooperative agreement with Lomonosov Moscow State University.

The Xiamen Federation of Trade Unions and Xiamen Bureau of Education recently held the 2017 “Boosting Education and Ability Programme for Migrant Workers to Help Realise Their Dream of Pursuing Further Education." The opening ceremony was held at Xiamen City University. The inaugural batch of more than 1,000 workers attended the university’s opening ceremony.

On 19th September , 2017, the Experimental School’s Weigongcun Study Centre held its Fall Semester Teaching Seminar. The seminar focused on teaching and teaching reform, primarily concerning work schedule, staff exchanges, and teaching research. Thirty-five tutors attended the seminar.
