From11th to 17th December, 2016, a delegation headed by OUC Vice President Li Linshu conducted a research tour on the progress of educational informatisation in the United States.
From the 10th to 11th of December, 2016, the 11th Confucius Institute Conference was held in Kunming. The conference was themed "Innovation, Cooperation, Inclusion and Sharing".
From 20th to 23rd November 2016, the ICDE (International Council for Distance and Open Education) Presidents’ Summit 2016 was held in Sydney, Australia.

On October 26-29, 2016, the 30th Annual Asian Association of Open Universities Conference (AAOU 2016) was held in Manila, Philippines. A delegation of five people headed by deputy Party secretary of the OUC Yang Xiaotang attended the conference.
During October 11-15, 2016, the Korea National Open University (KNOU) hosted the 6th KNOU-OUC-OUJ International Seminar. The seminar’s theme was "Exploring New Roles of Open Universities in Korea, China, and Japan," with sub-themes of "Educational Innovation Utilising New Technology” and “The Status and Prospects of Blended Learning."
