On 31 August 2023, a three-member delegation led by Ahmad Izanee bin Awang, president of the Open University of Malaysia (OUM), visited the Open University of China (OUC).

On 23 May 2023, a delegation of four members headed by Dr. Teng Waninga, the vice chancellor of the University of Goroka (UOG) in Papua New Guinea, visited the Open University of China (OUC).

On the afternoon of February 17th, the first World Open University Presidents Forum, initiated and hosted by the Open University of China, was held at the Beijing International Conference Centre. The forum was themed "Creating a New World Together: The Initiative of Open Education Digitalisation Addressing the Coming Challenges " and invited presidents of open universities worldwide to come together, look towards the future, discuss strategies for the development of open universities, seek to promote the digital transformation of open universities, build a community for the development of world open education, and thereby facilitate the reshaping and transformation of open education.

From 12 to 23 December 2022, the Open University of China (OUC) and the Open University UK (OUUK) jointly held their 2022 international online teacher-training workshops.

Recently, a joint application submitted by the Open University of China (OUC) and Anadolu University in Turkey for an EU’s Erasmus+ project was approved, marking the first time that OUC has been granted a fund from this programme.

Since 2016, the Open University of China (OUC) has been committed to exploring the construction of overseas learning centres in response to the call of the Central Committee of the Party and the State Council to provide open education outside China as part of the Belt and Road Initiatives.

The World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference was held in Tianjin on 19 and 20 August 2022. Chinese President Xi Jinping sent it a congratulatory letter which Vice Premier Sun Chunlan read on his behalf, along with a speech delivered via video link.

An exceptional award ceremony was organised at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on 24 June 2022 to celebrate the six laureates of the UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICT in Education, including the Open University of China (OUC).
