Beijing, 28 May 2025 — A delegation from the Autonomous Community of Galicia in Spain made a productive visit to the Open University of China (OUC).

The delegation was headed by Mr Ángel Rodríguez Sánchez, Director of the Centre for Educational and Digital Innovation of the Ministry of Education, Science, Universities, and Vocational Training of the Autonomous Community of Galicia and composed of Ms Lorena Barbeito Barciela, Secretary and Advisor of Learning Methodologies, Spaces, Equipment, and Didactic Resources; Ms María Luisa Triñanes López, Advisor of Knowledge Transfer and Internationalisation; and Mr Fernando de Castro Miguel, Advisor of Digital Design and Visual Communication. OUC Vice President FAN Xianrui warmly welcomed and held a meeting with the delegation Heads from OUC relevant departments, including the Experimental College, Department of Digitalisation, Learning Resources Department, School of Foreign Languages, Engineering Centre, and College of International Education, also participated in the meeting.

Vice President FAN extended a warm welcome to the delegation, highlighting the significance of their visit. She provided an insightful overview of the development journey and unique educational approach of OUC (the Seniors University of China), as well as its collaborative efforts with Spanish universities and institutions. She expressed her hope that this visit would mark the beginning of deeper, more meaningful exchanges and the establishment of a long-term cooperation framework. She stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation in digital education and artificial intelligence applications, working together to advance the digital transformation of education and to build a stronger bridge for educational and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

Mr Rodríguez Sánchez shared the Centre’s pioneering work and innovative explorations in areas such as virtual simulation teaching, the application of educational big data, and AI ethics governance. He conveyed his enthusiasm for continued in-depth exchanges with OUC, focusing on leveraging digital and intelligent technologies to enhance education and teaching. He also expressed his commitment to strengthening friendship and jointly promoting educational equity and quality improvement.   

 

During the meeting, representatives from OUC’s various departments shared their initiatives and valuable experiences in educational digitalisation with the delegation. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges on the application of artificial intelligence technology in educational contexts.

The delegation also visited the OUC “Internet + University” Operation & Display Centre and the Seniors University of China Display Centre, gaining a firsthand look at the university’s innovative educational approaches and facilities.
