Beijing, 21 August 2025 – A delegation led by YANG Donglun, Chairman of the Lan-Mekong China Education and Training Promotion Alliance (LCETPA) visited the Open University of China (OUC).
OUC Vice President FAN Xianrui welcomed the delegation, with representatives from the College of International Education and the Engineering Centre in attendance.
Vice President FAN extended a warm welcome on behalf of OUC. “The ASEAN countries are linked by shared mountains and rivers and a long-standing friendship; our potential for educational cooperation is enormous,” she said. She expressed the expectation that this visit will serve as a springboard for pragmatic collaboration in establishing Open Learning Centres, jointly developing and sharing course resources, upgrading teacher-capacity training, and interconnecting digital-education platforms, so that both sides can jointly cultivate more high-calibre talent for the socio-economic development of the ASEAN region.
YANG Donglun outlined LCETPA’s mission and major initiatives, highlighting its sustained efforts to promote educational exchanges among the six Lancang-Mekong countries - China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Viet Nam. He noted that OUC’s achievements in open, lifelong and digital education are impressive, and LCETPA looks forward to forging a close partnership with OUC to explore new models of regional training cooperation, facilitate the sharing of high-quality educational resources, and raise the standard of vocational and technical education across the region.
LI Jing, Deputy Director of the OUC Engineering Centre, briefed the delegation on the China-ASEAN Digital Education Alliance, its current structure, flagship activities and future plans.
During the visit, the delegation also toured the “Internet Plus University” exhibition centre and the Seniors University of China exhibition hall, commending OUC’s practical achievements in promoting educational equity and serving social development.
