Guiyang, 30 July - The 2025 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (CAECW)  was held in Guiyang, Guizhou Province from 24 to 27 July. The Opening Ceremony was staged at its permanent venue on the morning of 26 July. Under the theme "Smart Education Empowering People-to-People Exchanges, Educational Cooperation Enhancing Common Development", 2025 edition focused on showcasing the achievements of China-ASEAN cultural and people-to-people exchanges, enhancing the platform functions of CAECW, and deepening innovative models of “Education+” projects. 

Officials in charge of education from China and ASEAN countries, representatives from universities and enterprises, experts and scholars attended the ceremony. During the Opening Ceremony, a collective Signing Ceremony for the China-ASEAN School-Enterprise Cooperation Vocational Education Internationalisation Project was held, and the flagship “Going Global” brand of Guizhou vocational education "Guijiang Workshop" was officially launched.

 

On the afternoon of 26 July, the "Empowering International Industry - Education Integration through Digital Innovation" - 2025 ASEAN-China Smart Education Institute in Colourful Guizhou Demonstration Application Exchange Seminar was organised by the Secretariat of the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week Organising Committee. Ms. FAN Xianrui, Vice President of the Open University of China, attended the event and delivered a keynote speech.

With the theme "Comprehensively Advancing Digital Education Cooperation to Empower the China-ASEAN Industry-Education Integration Community," Ms. FAN introduced the practices and achievements of OUC in promoting digital education cooperation between China and ASEAN countries since it took on the role of the Secretariat of the ASEAN-China Digital Education Alliance in 2023. She highlighted that the alliance members will continue to deepen collaborative research in digital education, build a system for sharing high-quality resources, advance the coordination of regional digital education standards, enhance digital education capabilities, and empower lifelong talent development.

Over 150 officials in charge of education, industry organisations, vocational colleges, and enterprise representatives from China and ASEAN countries participated in this seminar. The seminar reviewed the phased achievements of the ASEAN-China Smart Education Institute in Colourful Guizhou and launched the China-ASEAN International Skilled Talent Training Programme. Experts and scholars engaged in thematic discussions on industry-education integration, vocational education going global, curriculum-industry alignment, and the integration of vocational and general education, exploring new pathways for the development of industry-education integration and new models for the coordinated development of the digital economy and talent cultivation.


 

Officials from the OUC’s College of International Education, Department of Digitalisation, Engineering Research Centre, and the OUC Ubiquitous Age attended the event.
