The 29th AAOU Conference was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from November 30th to December 2nd,2015. The conference’s main theme was “New Frontiers in Open and Distance Learning (ODL).” Hosted by the Open University of Malaysia (OUM), the conference welcomed more than 260 representatives from over 20 countries and regions,including OUC delegates, who attended the conference and presented papers.
On September 6, 2015, a group of 25 members from the UNESCO International Seminar on Girls’ and Women's Education visited the Open University of China (OUC). The delegation was made up of educators from nearly 10 countries, including Ethiopia, Namibia and Nepal, and project officials from the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
On July 21, 2015, Dr. Li Fuxin, President of the Chinese Language Teachers’ Federation of Australia (CLTFA) visited the Open University of China (OUC). Dr. Li looked through the university’s MyEChinese teaching platform and expressed his wish to discuss the possibilities for promoting the platform in the Chinese schools in Australia.
On May 7th, 2015, a 4-person delegation including Mr. DongKook Lee, the Acting President and Professor of Korea National Open University (KNOU), and Professor Yuan Fujie of the Open University of Japan (OUJ), took part in the “Education and Services for Older Adults Staff Building Forum” sponsored jointly by the OUC and China Association of Social Welfare and paid a special visit to the OUC after the meeting. Mr. Zhang Shaogang, Vice President of the Open University of China (OUC), met the delegation.
On March 26, 2015, about 35 postgraduates majoring in medicine and law from Soegijapranata Catholic University, Indonesia visited The Open University of China (OUC). As part of their visit they engaged in a series of profound discussions and dialogues on the topics covering the development of Chinese medicine, laws relating to Chinese medicine, distance education in China, etc. Professors from the School of Arts & Law, Chinese Language Centre of the OUC, and Liao Fulong, a researcher and doctoral supervisor at the Institute of Chinese Materia Medica China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, participated in the forum.
On January 14, 2015, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Steve Hill and the Project Manager-China Julia Guangyu YANG of the Open University Worldwide, the Open University, UK (OUUK), visited the Open University of China (OUC). Zhang Shaogang, Vice President of the OUC, and the heads of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department, Research Institute of Open and Distance Education, and the Chinese Language Centre met with the guests and discussed how to promote exchange and cooperation between the two sides.
On January 8, 2015, President of the Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK), Professor Yuk-Shan Wong, visited the Open University of China (OUC). President of the OUC Yang Zhijian, Vice President of the OUC Li Ling, and Vice President of the OUC Zhang Shaogang met with Professor Yuk-Shan Wong.
On the morning of January 13, 2015, delegates led by Education Attaché Mr. Priyanto Wibowo from the Education Office of the Indonesian Embassy in China visited the OUC. Mr. Yang Zhijian, President of The Open University of China (OUC), and Mr. Zhang Shaogang, Vice President of the OUC, held in-depth discussions with the delegates on promoting educational and cultural exchange between China and Indonesia and the construction of a “Sino-Indonesian Distance Education Development Eco System”. At the end of the discussions they reached a consensus.
