Abstract: The global MOOC movement developed steadily in 2019. International platforms such as Coursera maintained growth in the number of courses and microcredentials. A number of new educational products or service models have also been created this year.

A ceremony to sign a Memorandum of In-depth Strategic Cooperation between the Open University of China (OUC) and Beijing Radio and Television (BRTV) was held in Beijing on the morning of 9 July 2021.

On the morning of 8 July 2021, the Reform and Development Department of the Open University of China (OUC) organised a special meeting to support the implementation of a pilot programme for the joint construction of Jiangxi Open University (Jiangxi OU) by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Jiangxi Provincial People’s Government.

A five-half-day intensive teacher-training workshop, jointly held by the Open University of China (OUC) and the Open University in the UK (OUUK), and the first of its kind, came to a successful end recently. 30 OUC teachers participated in the positive, diligent and thoughtful manner of OUC faculty.

In order to celebrate the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Open University of China (OUC) and Zhongtuyunchuang Smart Technology (Beijing), a subsidiary of China National Publications Import & Export Group (CNPIEC), have jointly launched "Lectures on Red Current and Starlight", a series of party-history lectures presented via immersive virtual reality and targeting national ideological and political education.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the Party Committee, Discipline-inspection Commission, and Trade Union organisations directly under the Ministry of Education (MOE) held an exhibition of excellent works of calligraphy, painting and photography, and invited experts to review the exhibits.

For celebrations of the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Open University of China (OUC) launched a series of micro lectures on the 100-year history of the CPC in its "Party History Cloud Classroom", aiming to further implement the OUC's “Party History Learning and Education" plan.
