The leadership committee of the National Lifelong Learning Activity Week, sponsored jointly by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the China Adult Education Association, recently unveiled their recommendation list for the "2023 National New Era 'Common People Learning Stars' and 'Lifelong Learning Brand Programmes' Initiatives".

Two individuals from the Open University of China (OUC)—often referred to as the Senior University of China (SUC)—Ms Lian Suhua, a student, and Ms Yu Jing, a teacher, have been distinguished with the title of “Common People Learning Stars”. Additionally, the "OUC Lifelong Education Public Service Platform for All Age Groups across All Fields" has earned recognition as the “Lifelong Learning Brand Highly Acknowledged by Common People”. Moreover, OUC’s “Online Oil Painting Commune” and “Teaching Achievement Exhibition for Senior Education” have been honored as “Lifelong Learning Brand Programmes”.

The "Common People Learning Stars" programme was initiated in 2013, while the "Lifelong Learning Brand Programmes" recommendation and publicity campaign commenced in 2017. The "2023 National New Era 'Common People Learning Stars' and 'Lifelong Learning Brand Programmes' Initiatives" endeavour to highlight and disseminate the exemplary dedication of individuals who demonstrate unwavering faith, integrity, and innovation throughout their lifelong learning journey. These individuals, including educators and workers, have significantly contributed to the advancement of socialist modernisation. Furthermore, these initiatives underscore digital learning methodologies that cater to the cultural civilization needs of the populace, and champion brand programmes that prioritize addressing learners' requirements.
