On 8 January 2020, the Institute of Educational Technology of the Open University of UK and the National Institute for Digital Learning (NIDL) of Dublin City University jointly released the eighth report on innovative pedagogy, "Innovative Pedagogy 2020” (link to original file: https://iet.open.ac.uk/file/innovating-pedagogy-2020.pdf).

Beijing, 15 January 2020 (Xinhua News Agency) - Sun Chunlan, a member of the Standing Committee of the 19th CPC Central Committee Political Bureau and Vice Premier of the State Council, underlined during her survey of the Open University of China (OUC) on 15 January that General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on vocational education should be further implemented and that the decisions and deployment of the Party Central Committee and the State Council to deepen vocational education reform, to optimise the structure of highly skilled professionals, and to offer support for high quality economic and social development should be earnestly put in place.
2019 marked the 70th anniversary of new China as well as the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Open University of China (OUC).
From 24-28 December 2019, at the invitation of Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University (PSU) in Kazakhstan, a delegation of four members from the Open University of China(OUC) visited Almaty and Pavlodar, Kazakhstan, and discussed cooperation with the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Almaty) JSC, PSU, and NFC Kazakhstan LTD, a part of China Nonferrous Metal Construction Corporation Ltd. subordinate to China Nonferrous Metal Mining Group(CNMC) based in Kazakhstan.
From 27-28 December 2019, the first meeting of the third session of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee of the Open University of China (OUC) for the 2019 autumn semester, along with a seminar on the application for master's degree conferral rights was held in Beijing. After a round of deliberation, the meeting decided to confer 2,648 graduates, including Zhao Ran, with OUC bachelor's degrees, and reached a consensus on the application for master’s degree conferral rights.
From 16-20 December 2019, the media delegation for the OUC's ‘Realising Dreams of Further Education' visited the OUC branches in Guangdong and Fujian for in-depth interviews related to this programme; it was accompanied by the OUC Publicity Department (Press Centre) and the Office for Industrial-worker Education. The interviews were conducted with both enterprise personnel and students in order to determine the changes the programme had brought about in the lives of workers.
During the Second China Science and Fiction Film Festival Week, which closed on 16 December 2019, The Origin and Evolution of Life, produced by the Open University of China (OUC) and published by the OUC Multimedia Press, stood out from nearly 400 works and won a bronze medal.
