On 8 October 2019, Guangdong Province held its 45th WorldSkills Competition Summary Commendation Meeting and Preparation Session for the Launch of the 46th WorldSkills Competition in Guangzhou. At the meeting, the winners, the team of expert coaches, and collectives and individuals from Guangdong Province who made outstanding contributions to the 45th WorldSkills Competition were commended. The meeting also announced the official launch of Guangdong Province's preparation for the 46th WorldSkills Competition.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 40th anniversary of the Open University of China (OUC). Rooted in the vast land of China, over the past 40 years, the university has established an educational network across urban and rural China, shaped an “internet + university” without walls, and trained countless practical professionals by following an open educational mission designed to meet the needs of local areas, grassroots communities, rural areas, and remote and ethnic minority areas, establishing the university through quality with “masters of renowned teaching,” and completing educational and teaching reform with information technology.

On 9 October 2019, Zhou Yong, an outstanding alumnus of the Open University of China (OUC), donated a logo made with magnetic levitation technology to his Alma Mater, the OUC. The donation ceremony was held at the "Internet + University" Operation Exhibition Centre. Deputy secretary of the Party committee of the OUC, Liu Chen, and related personnel from the Department of Student Affairs and Teacher Development attended the ceremony.

On 10 October 2019, a delegation of three persons including Li Long, deputy county chief of Qinglong County, Hebei Province, and He Zhanshi, president of Qinglong Radio and TV University (Qinglong RTVU/Vocational Education Centre), visited the Open University of China (OUC). A seminar was held between the delegation and responsible personnel from the OUC Office of Poverty Alleviation, Work Union, and Learning Resources Department (Digital Library).

From 21-28 September 2019, the Open University of China (OUC) sent a delegation of five people headed by vice president Yang Xiaotang to visit the University of Goroka in Papua New Guinea and Massey University in New Zealand. The delegation attended the launch ceremony of the Confucius Education, Culture, and Research Centre (hereinafter referred to as Confucius Centre) at the University of Goroka and signed a Memorandum of Understanding and also held talks and reached cooperation intentions with Massey University in the areas of online distance teaching and teaching Chinese as a foreign language.

Xie Jun graduated with a Master's degree in Constitution and Administrative Law from Renmin University of China, and with a PhD in Constitution and Administrative Law from the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Since July 2004, he has been working as a teacher and teacher manager at the Experimental School of the Open University of China (OUC).

Yang Yang graduated from the College of Literature of Northeast Normal University, first with a Bachelor and then a Master's degree, and received a doctorate in literature in 2013. In 2015, he started work at the Experimental School of the Open University of China (OUC) as a course coordinator, supervising the teaching and teaching management of several majors.

On 20 September 2019, the second Lecture on Traditional Culture was given at the Open University of China (OUC). It was jointly sponsored by the OUC Research Centre for Traditional Chinese Culture, the School of Marxism, and the Committee of the Communist Youth League of China.
