Recently, new school term has started in the branches of Chongqing Radio and TV University (Chongqing RTVU). To make the newcomers know and understand open learning and to encourage them to value the learning opportunities, Professor Guo Qing, President of Chongqing RTVU, gave them the first class via a video clip, sending them messages on “constructing a great life pattern.”

“To experience the convenience of digital education and the limitless charm of science and technology”. Recently the “Self Guided Tour of Science Popularization of Guangzhou” activity, organized by the Association of Science and Technology of Guangzhou and sponsored by Guangzhou Radio and TV University (RTVU), was held in Guangzhou RTVU, with more than 20 citizens, including ordinary workers, community residents, undergraduates, and children attending the event.

On October 18-19, 2014, Innovative Development of Higher Vocational Education and the 2014 Annual National Joint Conference of Vocational Technical College Presidents was held in Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province. The annual conference was sponsored by the National Joint Conference of Vocational Technical College Presidents and was divided into five modules.

On 24 September 2014, over ten days after Teachers’ Day, our interviewing team of three people rambled up the steep Daba Mountains in a bus. The goal of our trip was to interview RTVU students and “The Most Beautiful Rural Teacher in the Country” — the couple Liao Zhanfu and Zhang Xingqiong, and to prepare the shooting of a micro film. 

Recently, with Zhejiang’s Taizhou Radio and TV University (RTVU) affiliation with Jindatian Village, a college was opened at the doors of villagers, giving all villagers a chance to study in the same classroom. The first village-level rural college student class in Zhejiang Province was launched in the village, which became a new pattern for the “project of training rural college students” in the Zhejiang RTVU system.

Organized by Hong Kong, Macao, and the Taiwan Office under the Ministry of Education, co-organized by the Open University of China (OUC) and the Greater China Youth (www.GCyouth.net), Chinese History Website Experts Symposium was recently held in the OUC. Chinese History Website was founded and led by Liu Naiqiang, a member of the Drafting Committee for the Basic Law of HKSAR and organizer of Greater China Youth Online.

Yan Bing, Vice President of the Open University of China (OUC), and Guo Xiaoxia, the OUC School of Agroforestry and Medicine, attended the high-level Sino-French forum on social security held in Paris, France. After the forum, they paid a visit to the service agencies for senior citizens in France.

On Oct. 9, 2014, in order to further enhance the quality of online course building, identify the significance of the trial operation of the online course, clarify procedures for the work, and to promote the nationwide trial operation of the online course in the autumn of 2014, the Open University of China (OUC) held a work summary and seminar on the building and trial operation of the online course during the spring of 2014.
