The list of prize winners of the Seventh Fujian Provincial Teaching Achievements in Higher Education has been published recently by Fujian Provincial Department of Education, and the project “Building Up State-Level Demonstration Platform of Lifelong Education, Leading the Construction of the Public Service System of the Learning Society”, by Fujian RTVU, has won the first prize, and “Innovation and Practice of ‘Micro Classroom’ Teaching Model”, also by Fujian RTVU, took home the second prize.

On the five-minute lecture website of the Open University of China (OUC), a micro lecture series entitled “Li Ping’s Modern Literature Appreciation” presented by Professor Li Ping, is very popular and has won a great deal of praise. On the afternoon of April 2, the OUC Digital Learning Resources Centre organized a seminar on the micro lecture series entitled “Li Ping’s Modern Literature Appreciation”, summarizing the creation of the micro lectures and inviting various parties to discuss ways to promote the construction of high-quality micro lectures. 

On March 16, a strategic cooperation agreement was signed between the OUC and the Yantai Chinese Culture Promotion in China’s Inkstone Culture Exhibition Centre. The ceremony’s attendees included Zhang Li, the Honorary President of the Yantai Chinese Culture Promotion and former Deputy Chief of the PLA General Staff Headquarters; Liu Hongjun, a member of the CPPCC National Committee, former Deputy Commander of the People’s Armed Police and President of the Yantai Chinese Culture Promotion; Lieutenant General and OUC President Yang Zhijian, and Assistant to the President Liu Chen.

“When I went to the RTVU to get new textbooks on weekends, I was afraid nobody would be there. However, to my surprise, I found that a service window had been set up by the university and special staff had been kept on duty to give out textbooks. It’s great!” exclaimed an undergraduate at the Pan’an Branch of Zhejiang RTVU. 

In order to comply with the trend of the Internet users gradually shifting to accessing the Web through mobile terminals, Guangzhou RTVU recently opened a WeChat account for the “Guangzhou Lifelong Learning Network.”

The WeChat account is used to promote online courses, as well as the information, teaching and academic affairs related to various educational projects.

On March 7, 2014, a silk banner reading “Good education is like a spring breeze and rain, brining help like fuel delivered in the snow,” and a letter of thanks, were presented by a relative of a student to the Academic Affairs Department of the Open University of China(OUC). The banner and letter expressed the family’s appreciation to the department.  

March 16 marked Professor Wu Hongqing’s 60th birthday and his retirement from the Open University of China (OUC), formerly known as China Central Radio and Television University, (CCRTVU). Choking back emotion as he spoke, Wu said, “When I was young, I didn’t feel the passage of time. Only now, as I look back upon the past, do I realize how short life is.
