On November 13, 2014, The Open University of China (OUC) and the TRAMPIL Foundation of Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding on future cooperation in Beijing. Both parties expect to carry out wide ranging cooperation in the training of local teachers teaching Chinese in Indonesia, in order to help them improve their Chinese teaching ability, information technology and multi-media skills, familiarize themselves with blended teaching models that integrate distance teaching with offline teaching, and to bring mixed teaching models and distance teaching resources into the primary and secondary schools in Indonesia.
From October 27 to November 6, 2014, the OUC’s No. 1406 Senior Workshop for Backbone Teachers was held in Beijing. The workshop lasted for two weeks and marked the first time that the “One College Student Per Village” plan carried out training for professional backbone teachers in the system of the Open University of China (OUC). A total of 48 teachers from 27 provincial schools and teaching locations within the “One College Student Per Village” plan took part in the course and completed their study.
At the 2014 Annual Nationwide Reading Meeting held at Hunan Library from November 11-13, the thesis “A Practical Exploration of Reading Promotion Activities for Rural Adolescents” submitted by Zhang Hongli from the library of The Open University of China (OUC) stood out from 402 theses sent by 361 libraries and 14 publishing houses and bookstores nationally and won the first prize.
Tea Culture Performance Art Team of Fujian RTVU made an excellent team "debut" recently at the 2014 Second Fuzhou Tea Industry Expo, winning second prize in the group tea contest, Creativity Award, and Best Tea Seat Design Award. Chen Ye also took home the Award for Best Individual Tea Art.
On November 4, 2014, online training for large pillar enterprises of Guangdong Province (dqy.gdlll.cn) went online at the Open University of Guangdong.
Special training for large pillar enterprises of Guangdong Province is a platform affiliated with the Guangdong lifelong learning network (www.gdlll.cn). Currently, there are 54 hours of subject courses available online for the first phase, including business management, intellectual property, technical standards, and more.
On November 4, students of Chongqing's first community school - Street Community School at Yuzhou Road - showed off their paper-cutting works at the national opening ceremony for the 2014 Lifelong Learning Activity Week in the Yuzhong District of Chongqing. At the ceremony, the vivid images of celebrities, magpies, galloping horses, and other works showed the learning outcomes that the students gained in the community schools.
Henan Radio and TV University (Henan RTVU) continues to promote its pilot teaching model of "integrating teaching, learning and testing into one platform”. Currently, 9 provincial open courses have been included in the pilot project, and this semester 40 additional provincial open courses in 12 subjects have been added to the pilot programme.
On November 11th of 2013, a program called “OUC Open Forum” debuted on CETV1. The “Science and China — Academicians and Experts Lecture” Series was included in the show. The lecture series were jointly planned and launched by the OUC and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The broadcast time happened to coincide with the first anniversary of the signing of the cooperation agreement. The occasion marked the win-win cooperation through which both sides’ advantages have been fully exerted fully and both have made substantial progress under their mutual efforts.
