From 25-30 September 2018, the Open University of China (OUC) held an advanced seminar for its quality control and evaluation staff.

On 27 September 2018, a launch meeting for the Innovative Training Platform for Improving the Information Technology Application Abilities of Primary and Secondary School Teachers, the Ministry of Education’s (MOE) targeted poverty alleviation programme for three regions, including Tibet, four autonomous prefectures in southern Xinjiang autonomous region and Tibetan regions in the four provinces of Yunnan, Sichuan, Gansu and Qinghai, and three autonomous prefectures, including Linxia prefecture in Gansu province, Liangshan prefecture in Sichuan province, and Nujiang prefecture in Yunnan province, was held in Shaya County, Akesu, Xinjiang.

On the morning of 28th September, 2018, the opening ceremony of the Fujian Lifelong Education Day & National Lifelong Learning Week took place at Fujian RTVU. These activities were set up by Fujian province in accordance with the guidelines issued by the 19th NPC for national lifelong continuing education, and were sponsored by the Fujian Education Bureau and organised by Fujian RTVU.

On 28 September 2018, three representatives of Malaysian overseas Chinese leaders, Dato' Sri Ang Lai Hee JP, Datuk Wira Gan Tian Loo, and Dato Dr. Joseph Wang, conducted an exchange visit to the Open University of China (OUC).

Themed “Partners Hand in Hand,” the 5th Confucius Institute Headquarters Open Day was held on 28 September 2018, the 2,569 anniversary of the birth of Confucius. Liu Xianghong, deputy secretary of Party Committee of the Open University of China, attended the event on behalf of the Chinese institution of the Confucius Institute at Michigan State University.

On the afternoon of 19 September 2018, the Open University of China (OUC) held a video deployment conference on 2018 teaching inspection work in the cloud classroom at the Wukesong headquarters of the OUC. The heads and relevant personnel in charge of the quality and teaching work of branches, colleges, and industry and corporate colleges attended the conference via the video conference system.

Du Linbo is a former level-four army master sergeant, an Administrative Management graduate from the Bayi School of the Open University of China (OUC),class of spring 2017, and a correspondent for the magazine Sergeant Distance Education. He has won third-class honours twice, and twice been recognised for his achievements in propaganda.

On the 20th September, 2018, the 8th OUC-OUJ-KNOU International Seminar hosted by the Open University of China (OUC) and attended by representatives from the Open University of Japan (OUJ) and the Korea National Open University (KNOU) was held in Beijing.
