Editor’s Note: The third session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the third session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) started in Beijing on 21 and 22 May 2020 respectively.
Recently, the defence work for bachelor degree students from the Xi'an Branch in spring 2020 has been successfully completed. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the Xi’an Branch has been making full use of information technology to continuously innovate its work model and optimise its live streaming platform. Following online live streamed classes, online cloud defences have been put into practice as scheduled. The online video defence for undergraduate students was conducted using multiple platforms such as smart classrooms, the Tencent meeting app, and WeChat groups in order to maintain quality in completing graduation defences.
The Open University of China (OUC) recently held a meeting, the first of its kind, for its first Majors Committee. Lin Yu, chairman of the first Majors Committee and vice president of the OUC, presided over the meeting, which was also attended by 17 vice chairmen of the committee either in person or via video.
