At the invitation of the Open University of China (OUC), a three-person delegation from the Open University of Japan (OUJ) led by Vice President Professor Yoshiaki Hamada paid a visit to the OUC on March 15-16, 2010. Mr. Ruan Zhiyong, Secretary of the OUC Party Committee, and Party Committee Vice Secretary Zhang Shaogang met with the delegation.

On 1st March 2011, the ceremony of "Inspiring National Strength — Chinese of the Year 2010" was held in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. Ruan Wenping, a student majoring in Chinese Language and Literature in the OUC was recommended by netizens and the Experts Committee and was selected as a "Chinese of the Year 2010".
The OUC recently launched its Annual OUC Scholarship pilot project for 2010. The project will be expanded to 29 provincial radio and TV universities (PRTVUs). In addition to the existed "Field of Hope" Scholarship and the IET-Sunshine Scholarship, the OUC has this year started the Serving Soldier Scholarship.

The 2011 EFA Global Monitoring Report Launch and 6th EFA National Forum was held on March 1st in Beijing, organized by UNESCO Beijing Office and the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO. Vice president of the Open University of China, Zhang Shaogang attended the forum.
The Dakar Framework for Action on Education for All (EFA)
On October 29th 2010, the Open University of China (OUC) Multimedia Press and the Chinese Society for Modern Educational Technology of the Chinese Institute of Electronics (CIE) signed an agreement on audiovisual product promotion under the general cooperation project with China Calligraphy and Painting International University.
The OUC signed a strategic cooperative agreement with the CIE on July 29th 2010, making the decision to integrate their educational and academic resources for various degree and non-degree programmes in line with the principle of "serving the public with complementary advantages",
The OUC recently signed a cooperation agreement with the CIBT Education Group initiating an international hotel management programme. The project aims to produce outstanding graduates in the field of hotel management in an effort to develop the high-end domestic market by introducing international curriculum resources and training methods. In order to promote this, a promotion conference on hotel management projects in Chinese radio and TV universities was held in Lianhua Hotel in Kunming, Yunnan.
