On October 10, 2013, Professor Ge Jianxiong, a member of the Standing Committee of The National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), social activist, renowned historical geography scholar and curator of the Fudan University Library, visited the Open University of China (OUC) to deliver his esteemed lecture “Economic and Cultural Regional Differences: Historical Geographical Basis of Chinese Economy and Culture”. 

On October 18, a three-person delegation from Wright State University (WSU) of the US visited Shenyang Radio and TV University (RTVU). The delegation included Dr. Sundaram Narayanan, WSU provost; Dr. Hong Lang, WSU executive director of the International Exchange Department; and Dr. Li Yi, WSU dean of the College of Science and Mathematics. The trio was given a warm reception by Wang Bin, Shenyang RTVU president, the university’s vice presidents Fan Jie and Lü Yuming, as well as other senior personnel from various departments.

September 29 marked the opening ceremony of the “Hebei Lifelong Learning Online” platform at Hebei Radio and TV University (RTVU). Lu Xiaoguang, vice chairman of the Hebei committee for the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and Vice Chairman Wang Xiaofei, director of the Vocational and Adult Education Division under the Hebei Education Department, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Liu Xiaoping, secretary of the Hebei RTVU Communist Party of China (CPC) Committee, unveiled the launch of “Hebei Lifelong Learning Online”.

On October 15, a six-person delegation led by Dr. Chailerd Pichitpornchai, President of Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) and Dr. Richard Ng, Director of the Learning Centre of the Open University Malaysia (OUM) visited Beijing Open University (BOU). BOU Vice President Jiang Rao met the visiting guests and introduced the university’s history and construction. Representatives from the Academic Affairs Department, Resource Construction Service Centre and Student Affairs Centre held a meeting with the assembled guests.

On October 15, 2013, the Conference on the Advancement of National Learning City Construction and Case City Exchange was held in Dezhou City, Shandong Province.
