The “OUC Open Forum” video courses and the series "Science and China: Lectures by Academicians and Experts” produced by the Open University of China (OUC) were aired on China Education Television Channel 1 (CETV-1) from March 7, 2015 and on CETV Air Classroom Channel from March 9, 2015, respectively.
"OUC Open Forum" is a series of video courses for the general public, and is a method by which the OUC practices the concept of "openness, responsibility, quality, diversity and internationalization", and another way by which such social services are made available. As a supplement to academic education, "OUC Open Forum" invites well-known experts and scholars from both home and abroad to disseminate academic ideas and showcase the charisma of the masters, enabling the whole society and the general public, especially those outside university campuses, to experience the academic life to some extent and benefit from university education. Such an academic feast provides them with a chance to understand, think about, and get involved in high-level academic communication.
The series "OUC Open Forum" covers three major topics, namely, science, culture, and life. The serial lectures on culture aim at disseminating splendid culture, promoting cultural building, and enhancing self-confidence in Chinese culture. The detailed contents include traditional Chinese culture, art and aesthetics, etc. The serial lectures on science aim at popularizing scientific knowledge, developing scientific thinking, and building the scientific spirit. The detailed contents include ecological and environmental protection, information technology, and so on. The serial lectures on life are designed to advocate a harmonious life, make innovations in the life concept, and improve the quality of life. The course contents include life concept, interpersonal relationships, and philosophy in life.
The “Science and China: Lectures by Academicians and Experts” series was jointly designed and launched by the OUC and the Academic Divisions of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The feature integrates many high-quality resources, bringing together academicians, experts, and other high-end talent resources from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering to fulfill the goal of popularizing scientific knowledge among the public, disseminating cutting-edge thought, and arousing the public’s desire for exploration through the platforms of TV, Internet, and new media, etc. The serial feature is also a part of “OUC Open Forum”.
"OUC Open Forum" video courses were aired on CETV Air Classroom Channel (BGCTV Channel 65 for Beijing) from March 7, 2015 as an “OUC Open Forum” programme. Its first broadcasting appears at 22:12 every Saturday and Sunday, and will be replayed each Saturday and Sunday. “Science and China: Lectures by Academicians and Experts” was broadcast as a "Science and China" program. It was broadcast on CETV-1 (BGCTV Channel 41 for Beijing) from March 9, 2015, and its broadcast time is 7:00 am every Monday.
