From 14th to 16th April 2018, China Association for Educational Technology (CAET) Higher Education University Distance Education Specialised Commission (hereinafter referred to as "CAET Distance Education Commission") held its 2018 annual academic conference in Guangzhou. Meanwhile, a distance teaching innovation forum was also held. This event coincided with the CAET annual meeting and shared academic resources which enabled the achievements made in the distance education field to be more widely spread.
Recently, the State Press and Publication Administration (former the State General Administration of Press and Publications, Radio, Film and Television, or SGAPPRFT) released the 2018 annual storage projects listed in the project library for reform and development of the press and publications sector. A project called the “Original ISLI-based Shan Hai Jing Media-development Project,” which was conducted by the Press Group of the Open University of China (OUC), was included on the list.
On 21st April, 2018, the opening ceremony of the 2018 spring semester, with the theme “Happy Learning, Mutual Assistance, and Advancing Together,” was held in the Weigongcun Study Centre of the Experimental School of the Open University of China (OUC).
The Open University of China (OUC) launched its first “OUC Student English Speech Competition” in December of 2017 to further implement its “OUC Community” operational concept, enrich the campus culture, and exhibit the capacity of students to express themselves in English. The preliminary branch contests held nationwide have concluded, and more than 100 competitors from 22 branches will enter the quarter-finals.
From the 4-9th April 2018, the OUC held an advanced seminar for backbone tutors in its accounting majors, in order to strengthen the construction of the teaching faculty for accounting majors within the OUC's organisational system, raise the level of the tutors’ teaching and improve their comprehensive quality. More than 100 full-time tutors from the OUC’s 41 branches, as well as some from the OUC Experimental School, attended the seminar and completed the programme.
One of the goals put forward in the 13th Five-Year Plan for National Education Development is to “further expand opportunities for lifelong learning for all and form a modern education system suitable for everyone.” As an important element of this goal, the Open University of China (OUC) has been exploring non-degree education. Recently, Liu Chen, vice president of the OUC, visited the China.org.cn to discuss this topic.
On 10th April 2018, Dalian Radio and Television University (Dalian RTVU) held the final of its first student English speech competition.
On the morning of 12th April 2018, an opening ceremony for the Southern Data Centre of the Open University of China (OUC) was held at Zhejiang Radio and Television University (Zhejiang RTVU).
