On 28-29th May 2018, the Open University of China (OUC) Experimental School 2018 Teaching Work Conference was held in Beijing. The aim of the conference is to strengthen discipline construction, implement the teaching process, regulate teaching management, and play an exemplary and leading role.

To strengthen the management and teaching teams at the experimental schools of the Open University of China (OUC), promote communications, and upgrade the skills of staff and teachers in branches and study centers, an advanced workshop was held in Beijing from May 14- 18. More than 50 teachers from the Nanhai, Taiyuan and Dabieshan Experimental Schools, as well as the branches and study centers attached to them, attended the workshop and received training there.

From 10-11th May 2018, a seminar on teaching work in the civil engineering and hydraulic engineering majors was held in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. Over 60 responsible personnel and teaches from branches with civil engineering and hydraulic engineering majors and those participated in an online teaching pilot attended the seminar.

From 17-18th May 2018, the Open University of China (OUC) held an examination management system construction conference in Beijing.

From 15-16th May 2018, the Second Session of the Science and Engineering Sub-Committee of the OUC Academic Committee held its first 2018 conference in Tengchong, Yunnan Province.

On 22nd May, the Open University of China (OUC) held the 37th Session of its Professor Development Forum.

Since the OUC first set up the Elderly Service and Management major (junior college education), positive efforts have been made to develop resource construction. To date, a set of paper textbooks, video teaching materials, and online courses and micro-lectures have been produced.

Editor's Note: The 2017 Open University of China (OUC) Essay Competition, themed “The OUC Implementing the Spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress,” ended a few days ago. A total of 174 articles were submitted by 23 departments, and 62 of those were awarded. Consideration is given to the development of the OUC in these articles by integrating the implementation of the spirit of the 19th CPC around the OUC’s central work. The OUC’s development draws inspiration from different perspectives on talent development reform, educational informatisation, credit bank construction, discipline and specialty research and construction, teacher training, targeted poverty alleviation, and international cooperation and exchanges. Some of the excellent, award-winning articles were selected for subsequent publicity on this website.
