The Open University of China (OUC), attaching great importance to protecting students and staff from the COVID-19 epidemic, has formulated a plan, i.e. Emergency Work Plan for Prevention and Control of COVID-19,for doing so based on the guidance of the Ministry of Education and municipal government.

On the afternoon of 5 March 2020, the OUC emergency-management team conducted a drill followed the requirements of the plan. Preparations included studying the plan, sub-dividing tasks, and trying on protective equipment, while during the drill groups carried out quarantine, disinfection, closure, hospitalisation and other procedures. Afterward, the team undertook process assessment. The drill was a realistic preparation for an emergency, and has laid a solid foundation for the OUC to help defeat the epidemic.
