On the morning of 9 September 2024, at 9:00 AM, Zhou Tianming, vice president of the Open University of China (OUC), inaugurated the 2024 autumn semester with the "First Class of the New Semester," delivered via a live video broadcast.
To thoroughly study and implement the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Second and Third Plenary Sessions of the 20th Central Committee, and to enthusiastically celebrate the brilliant journey and glorious achievements since the founding of New China, the Party Committee and Trade Union of the Ministry of Education's directly affiliated organs organised an exhibition of calligraphy, painting, and photography themed "Ode to New China, Striving in the New Era".

On 26 July 2024, the Open University of China (OUC) hosted a signing ceremony for partnership in ideological and political education and ethics training initiatives for domestic service workers, along with a workshop on professional ethics and competency development.
Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, announced the list of national exemplary projects and approved projects for the "5G+ Smart Education" pilot application programme.
The recent meeting of the OUC's 4th Academic Degree Evaluation Committee, its 4th session, focused on reviewing the degree awarding process for the spring semester of 2024.
