From 26 to 27 March 2025, the Open University of China (OUC) hosted a seminar on education for people with disabilities in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.
From 20 to 21 March 2025, the Open University of China (OUC) convened its Academic Committee Chair meeting in Haikou, Hainan Province. The event was attended by LI Song, Vice President of OUC and Director of the Academic Committee, LI Jin, President of Hainan Open University, and other more than 30 chairs of the Academic Committee from the Open University system across the country. The meeting focused on how to actively implement the Master Plan on Building China into a Leading Country in Education (2024 -2035) and to fulfil the responsibilities and missions of the Academic Committee for the high-quality development of open education.
On 20 March 2025, a delegation led by XUE Wanli, Deputy Director of Personnel Service Centre for Public Institutions of Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (MOHRSS), visited the Open University of China (OUC). Ms. LIU Xuanxuan, Vice President of OUC, met with the delegation.
On 14 March 2025, a delegation led by Mr. YU Jianwei, Chairperson of the China Aging Development Foundation (CADF), and Mr. YANG Chaoqun, Vice President of Yili Group, visited the Seniors University of China (SUC). Dr. WANG Qiming, President of the Open University of China (OUC) and SUC, Ms. FAN Xianrui, OUC and SUC Vice President, and Mr. XU Mingjun, OUC and SUC Vice President, attended the meeting, which was chaired by Ms. FAN.
On 15 March 2025, the Jiangxi Branch of the Seniors University of China (SUC) was established. A delegation led by Dr. WANG Qiming, President of the Open University of China (OUC) and SUC and Ms. FAN Xianrui, OUC and SUC Vice President visited Jiangxi Open University (OU) and Jiangxi Seniors University (SU), attended the inauguration ceremony and had a meeting with the locals, discussing how to promote the elderly education locally and nationwide.
A roundtable discussion focusing on the opportunities and challenges brought by DeepSeek for open education was hosted by Department of Student Affairs and Teacher Development at the Open University of China (OUC). Six experienced AI experts and educators shared their views on “New Possibilities for Open Education Empowered by DeepSeek”, sparking dynamic discussions about AI’s role in reshaping the futures of education. This event was broadcast live to the Open University faculty nationwide, attracting 3,021 live viewers and 279 replay viewers.
The Third Session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the Third Session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) commenced respectively in Beijing on 4th and 5th March 2025. President XI Jinping and other Party and state leaders attended the sessions, where NPC deputies and CPPCC members deliberated on national affairs, charted the course for development, and envisioned the grand prospects of Chinese modernisation. Faculty members of the Open University of China (OUC) actively followed the proceedings, engaged in in-depth study and thinking.
The opening session of the third session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) was held at the Great Hall of the People at 9 am on March 5. When Premier Li Qiang delivered the Government Work Report, he reviewed the work in 2024 and introduced the tasks of the government in 2025. The report on the work of the government proposes to thoroughly implement the strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education and improve the overall effectiveness of the national innovation system.
