Wuhan, 12 May 2025 - The 2025 World Digital Education Conference (WDEC), jointly organized by the Ministry of Education (MOE), the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, and People’s Government of Hubei Province, opens in Wuhan, China from 14 – 16 May 2025.
Recently, the Open University of China (OUC) hosted the kick-off review meeting for the National Education Science Planning Project on Interpreting the Spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the National Conference on Education, titled "Empowering the Construction of a Learning Society through Digital Education".

Beijing, 28 April 2025 – China celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions by honouring national model workers and individuals at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. A total of 1,670 people were honoured as national role model workers, while 756 were recognised as exemplary individuals. Among them, 25 students from the Open University of China (OUC) were awarded the title of National Model Worker and 6 OUC faculty members and students were recognised as National Exemplary Individual.

The Open University of China (OUC) and the Seniors University of China (SUC) issued a reading initiative and launched 2025 "Guoyun Shuxiang: Opening Books to Unlock New Horizons" Reading Actions, for the establishment of an education system serving lifelong learning for all and enhancement of public service capacity for lifelong education stipulated in the “2024 - 2035 Master Plan on Building China into a Leading Country in Education,” The reading initiative and actions aim to foster a new reading ecosystem characterised by "headquarters-led coordination, system-wide collaboration, multi-stakeholder synergy, and broad public engagement", in which everyone can learn whenever and wherever they want to.
