Beijing, 24 May 2025 – The Experimental College of the Open University of China (OUC) hosted a Welcome Ceremony for its 2025 Spring Semester students within OUC system. Vice President FAN Xianrui attended the event and delivered a speech. Over 2,500 new students participated in the event online or onsite.
Vice President FAN Delivers a Speech
In her speech, Vice President FAN outlined the "1234" strategy of OUC, which is designed to support the construction of a leading country in education. She highlighted that the university will continue to explore innovative approaches to digital education and leverage digital intelligence to empower lifelong learning, thereby contributing to the development of a learning society and a learning nation.
She raised four expectations for the new students: firstly, to strengthen their ideals and beliefs, aligning themselves with the direction of the times; secondly, to keep lifelong learning and develop robust skills; third, to study diligently and think critically, applying their knowledge effectively; fourthly, to cultivate a love for reading and sports, forming good habits. She encouraged the students to continuously surpass themselves, realise their personal value, and contribute to social development as part of the journey towards building a leading country in education in the new era.
WANG He, New Student Representative
New student representative WANG He then shared his initial motivations and dreams for returning to learning. Teacher representative CHEN Jie and class advisor representative ZHANG Qianqian pledged in their speeches to provide high-level expertise and high-quality services to support students on their learning journey.
GAO Feng, Senior Student Representative
Senior student representatives, GAO Feng, who was awarded the title of "National Model Worker" in 2025, recounted his personal experience of persisting in learning and continuously advancing despite a busy work schedule. His story exemplified the sense of responsibility and enterprising spirit of the new generation of OUC students.
A "digital presenter" introduced a profile of the new students via video, showcasing data that reflected their spirit of excellence and vigorous progress. As the new semester begins and a new journey unfolds, the Experimental College remains committed to enhancing the quality of teaching and education, optimising learning support services, and empowering every student to move forward confidently and shape a bright future with the aid of smart technologies.
