Beijing, 8 June 2025 — The Experimental College of the Open University of China (OUC) collaborated with iFLYTEK to host a study tour themed "iFLYTEK Enlightens Intelligence, Practice Casts Dreams – Exploring the Infinite Possibilities of Artificial Intelligence". OUC Vice President FAN Xianrui attended the event and delivered an opening speech. The event attracted over 1,400 students attended online and offline.
In her speech, Vice President FAN highlighted that, within the context of the country's efforts to build a ubiquitous and accessible lifelong education system, lifelong learners should prioritise knowledge acquisition, emphasise on developing practical skills, and stimulate innovative thinking, thereby enhancing their AI literacy and application capabilities. She noted that the event extended the classroom to the cutting-edge of the industry, enabling students to experience the allure of AI up close and gain insights into industry trends through a combination of on-site visits and high-level lectures by academicians. FAN also introduced OUC's recent practical explorations and future plans in the field of AI education, expressing the hope of working with universities and enterprises to forge a new chapter in AI education at OUC.
CHEN Hongbin, General Manager of iFLYTEK's Higher Education Business Group, elaborated on the advancements and typical applications of AI technology, particularly large model technology. He presented the latest practical application achievements of iFLYTEK's AI technology in core areas such as university teaching and education, scientific research innovation, and talent cultivation.
Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at Tsinghua University's Department of Computer Science and Technology, ZHENG Weimin, delivered an academic lecture titled "Reflections on Large AI Models". ZHENG introduced the trend of AI large models evolving towards multimodality and the deep integration of "large models + industries". He provided a detailed explanation of the various stages of the AI large model life cycle and illustrated how enterprises can effectively leverage large models to create value through case studies. This high-level lecture offered students cutting-edge academic guidance and valuable industry insights.
Participants also visited the AI experience centre, where they gained a systematic understanding of iFLYTEK's latest breakthroughs in core areas such as speech recognition, natural language processing, and computer vision, as well as the implementation of these technologies in diverse scenarios like education, healthcare, office work, and industry. Interactive checkpoints in the experience centre allowed students to operate and experience AI applications firsthand, helping them to understand how AI empowers various industries and solves practical problems, by transforming abstract theoretical knowledge into concrete industry understanding.
This event is part of the Experimental College's ongoing efforts to deepen the integration of industry and education and to conduct practical teaching. Looking ahead, the Experimental College will explore more diversified models of industry-education integration, provide more practical opportunities for students, support the cultivation of high-quality applied talents, and promote students' career development.
