The China Adult Education Association organised the 2019 - 2024 Adult Continuing Education Research Achievements (Book Category) Promotion Activity, in an effort to establish systems and mechanisms for high-quality education, promote lifelong learning for all, and conduct in-depth theoretical research and practical exploration in adult continuing education.

This initiative aims to systematically summarise and showcase academic research achievements in the field, enhance the capacity of educational research to support the establishment of a leading country in education, and encourage researchers in adult continuing education to produce more high-quality research outcomes. Five works from the Lifelong Education Research Institute of the Open University of China (OUC) have been selected as research achievements in adult continuing education in the new era.

The Construction and Application of Interactive Digital Textbooks under the Concept of Ubiquitous Learning

This book originates from a Reform Project of the Beijing Municipal Education, "Exploration of the Construction and Application Model of Interactive Digital Textbooks Based on Ubiquitous Learning." It introduced a new type of digital textbook ecosystem that adapts to diverse learning scenarios, innovatively proposing core outcomes such as an "integrated and selectable" teaching design concept, a multimodal digital learning resource generation model, and a blended learning application model. These achievements have been successfully transformed and applied in the field of continuing education and further extended to community education and elderly education, providing replicable experience for the high-quality development of lifelong education. The monograph has been selected as part of a key national book publication planning project during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period. The related research achievements have won the First Prize for OUC Teaching Achievements in 2021 and the Third Prize in the Ninth Selection of Outstanding Research Achievements of OUC.

Management of Open and Distance Education

 

This book attempts to introduce a content system for the management of open and distance education with Chinese characteristics. It not only summarises and reflects the practical experience of open and distance education management in China, but also lays the theoretical foundation for the book by conducting a comprehensive literature review and drawing on international experience, thereby promoting the development of the discipline and educational practice of open and distance education.

Digital Empowerment of Innovative Development in Elderly Education

This book is part of the "Research Series on the Lifelong Learning Service System," a key national publication planning project during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period and a national publication foundation project for the year 2023. It has been selected for the book category promotion list of research achievements in continuing education in the new era. The author follows the national strategy and the pace of the times, focusing on the issues and challenges in elderly education and integrating new concepts, scenarios and strategies. This book systematically elaborates on the value and practical direction of digital empowerment of innovative development in elderly education. Its innovative and unique content is closely aligned with the cutting edge of the times, and combines academic depth with practical application value, providing theoretical support and practical guidance for the digitalisation of elderly education.

The Concept and Action of Lifelong Learning City Construction

This book has been selected as a national publication foundation project and a key book publication planning project during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period. It is an interim achievement of Ministry of Education key project "Research on the Collaborative Mechanism of Stakeholder Participation in Lifelong Learning City Construction", a part of the national education science "13th Five-Year Plan".  This book meticulously combs through domestic and international literature related to lifelong learning cities and presents vivid cases of lifelong learning city construction at the levels of international organisations, countries, and cities. For the first time, it conducts an in-depth analysis of the concept and action of lifelong learning city construction from a global perspective, with essential and core significance. The related achievements have won the First Prize for Outstanding Research Achievements in National Adult Continuing Education and the First Prize for Research Achievements of the Beijing Adult Education Association for the years 2017 - 2018.

A Study on Anadolu University in Turkey

This is a monograph on Anadolu University in Turkey, the world's fourth-largest open university in terms of student population, written in both Chinese and English. During the writing process, the author team visited Anadolu University three times for field research, which enhanced the team's intuitive understanding of the study subject and ensured the comprehensiveness and integrity of data collection. Meanwhile, this effort laid a people-to-people exchange foundation between OUC and Anadolu University. The then Vice President of Anadolu University reviewed the entire English version. The core journal paper derived from the writing process of the monograph has won the Third Prize in the selection of outstanding research achievements of OUC.
