"Chasing Innovation with Academicians: Technological Innovation Driving the Development of New Productive Forces" closely aligns with the major deployment of "high-quality development". It presents a panoramic view of the efforts by the Chinese academicians, guided by the strategic goal of building China into a world leader in science and technology, to address the nation’s urgent needs and long-term needs. They have achieved remarkable results in key generic technologies, frontier-leading technologies, modern engineering technologies, and disruptive technologies, showcasing their spirit of patriotism, service to the people, and pursuit of excellence. The project vividly portrays China's efforts to accelerate the formation of new productive forces and promote high-quality development, painting a new picture of Chinese modernisation.
This topic stems from the "Academician Lecture Series" project, jointly created by the OUC, the Bureau of Academic Divisions of the CAS, and the Centre for Strategic Studies of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE). Since its launch in 2012, the project has invited 120 academicians from the CAS and CAE, along with more than 300 experts from renowned universities and research institutes nationwide. It has developed 60 series with 778 episodes, totalling 19,000 minutes of high-quality popular science resources, and has engaged 500 million participants in online and offline learning activities, generating widespread social impact. The popular science works incubated by the project have won 50 national and provincial awards and were selected as a "Lifelong Learning Brand Projects" in the new era nationwide in 2024. In the future, the "Academician Lecture Series" will continue to be dedicated to enhancing the scientific literacy of the public, promoting the construction of a leading country in science and technology, and contributing to the construction of a learning-oriented country and society.
