An opening ceremony to inaugurate Changchun Open University (Changchun OU) was held on 6 January 2021. Liu Xianghong, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Open University of China (OUC), Jia Lina, deputy mayor of Changchun, and Zhan Gaofeng, deputy director of Jilin Provincial Department of Education, attended the ceremony.
On 6 November 2022, a ceremony for the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement on the transformation and development of Jilin Open University (Jilin OU), along with the official opening of the university, was held in Jilin Hotel, marking the official renaming of Jilin Radio and TV University (Jilin RTVU) as Jilin OU.
On 27 December 2020, the opening ceremony of Heilongjiang Open University (Heilongjiang OU) was held in Harbin, at which Heilongjiang Radio and TV University (Heilonjiang RTVU) was officially renamed as Heilongjiang OU.
On 30 December 2020, the unveiling ceremony for Guangxi Open University (Guangxi OU) was held in Nanning. Guangxi Radio and TV University (Guangxi RTVU) has now been officially renamed as Guangxi OU.
On 27 December 2020, the inauguration of Harbin Open University (Harbin OU), as well as a meeting to promote its construction and development, was held at the Friendship Palace, Harbin.
On 25 December 2020, Ningxia Open University (Ningxia OU) was officially unveiled. The new Internet Plus Education university will serve lifelong learning education for all in Ningxia and promote the construction of open, community and older adult education systems.
An opening ceremony for Sichuan Open University (Sichuan OU) was held in Chengdu on the morning of 30 December 2020.
Qinghai Provincial People’s Government recently approved the renaming of Qinghai Radio and TV University (Qinghai RTVU) as Qinghai Open University(Qinghai OU), signifying that the university has reached a new stage of building a new type of university serving lifelong learning for all.
