With the rapid development of online education, it is an important and urgent task to improve the online education and teaching ability of college teachers. It is of great significance to deepen research in terms of implementing the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, improving college teachers’ professional online teaching ability, establishing high-quality teaching teams in colleges and universities, and promoting the quality improvement of education and teaching in institutions of higher education.

On 23 December, the Meeting of the Open University of China (OUC) to Advance Reform and Development in 2021 was convened in Beijing. The purpose of the meeting was to study and implement the guiding principles of the fifth and sixth Plenary Sessions of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), to investigate and deploy key tasks for 2022, and to accelerate the construction of world-class open universities with Chinese characteristics for high-quality development.

On 23 December, the Open University of China (OUC) held a video conference on the final examinations of the 2021 autumn semester.

On 22 December 2021, a two-person delegation led by Ma Bo, vice president of Cerwise Education Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (or CERNET Education) visited the Open University of China (OUC) to discuss provision of international higher education. The 31st annual conference of the Committee of Adult Higher Education in Foreign Languages Majors of China Adult Education Association (CAEA) was held at the Open University of China (OUC) on 16 December 2021.

A new online-examination system based on its “One Road, One Network, One Platform” strategy was launched by the Open University of China (OUC) in spring 2021, and has undergone two pilot stages of enhancement in April and June this year. It is now in preparation for its third pilot stage for the autumn 2021 final online examination.
