From May 3 to 5, 2016, the China International Senior Services Expo (CISSE2016) was held at the China National Convention Centre in Beijing. Co-sponsored by the China Association of Social Welfare, the Open University of China (OUC), and Beijing College of Social Administration, the "Forum on Education for the Elderly and Development of Service Care Professionals," organized by Zhongfuzhangzhe Senior Services Co. Ltd., was held May 4.

On April 29th, 2016, a ceremony to celebrate the International Workers Day as well as the National May 1st Labor Medal awards ceremony was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

I. Introduction

The Government Work Report delivered at the Third Session of the Twelfth National People’s Congress first mentioned the need to “develop an Internet internet Plus plus action plan to integrate mobile Internet, cloud computing, big data, and the Internet of Things with modern manufacturing, and to encourage the healthy development of e-commerce, industry networks, and internet banking.” Although education is not specifically referred to in the “Internet Plus Industry Action Plan”, Internet Plus represents an inevitable trend in education development, and open education has long been deeply integrated with internet technology.

May 6th, 2016 witnessed the announcement of the results of the Wuhan International “Chucai Cup” Essay Competition. Zhang Yuehai, a grandpa from Wujiashan Street, Dongxihu District, Wuhan, was overjoyed to learn that his granddaughter received second prize in the competition. “Grandpa Zhang, congratulations on your granddaughter winning second prize”, “You have to teach us how to be such a successful grandpa.” These days Grandpa Zhang is often embraced in such warm compliments from his neighbours.

In September 2015, the Open University of China (OUC) launched the 2015 selection campaign for outstanding graduates within the OUC system.

On April 28, 2016, a delegation led by Vice President Trofimov Vsevolod Viktorovich from the National Open Institute in St. Petersburg visited Fujian RTVU.

In order to help military veterans with their employment as well as comprehensively improve their employ-ability, Sichuan RTVU implemented a vocational education and skills training programme within its local schooling system for military veterans in Sichuan province.
