On 29 November 2018, Yang Zhijian, secretary of the Party Committee and president of the Open University of China (OUC), received a visit by a team led by Mr. Paul Kett, director of Education Standards, Department for Education, UK.

The second plenary session of the Second Academic Committee of the Open University of China (OUC) and the meeting of the sub-committees of various disciplines was held in Beijing from 29 November to 1 December 2018. The first eight research centres of the OUC were granted with plaques at the meeting. Yang Zhijian, secretary of the OUC Party Committee and OUC president, and Liu Chen, deputy secretary of the OUC Party Committee, attended the meeting and made speeches. Yang Xiaotang, vice president and chairman of the OUC Academic Committee, made a work report.

From 4-5 December 2018, a conference on the establishment of the Committee for Art Education Professionals of the Non-Degree Education Collaborative Association for National Open Universities (Radio and Television Universities, or RTVUs) was held in Beijing alongside the 2018 Art Teaching and Research Central Group Seminar. The Committee for Art Education Professionals is the first professional committee established by the Non-Degree Education Collaborative Association.

On 3 December 2018, the “Seminar on the Practice of the ‘One College Student per Village Programme’: Rural Vitalisation and Professional Support” was held at the Publishing & Media Group of the Open University of China (OUC).

On 4 December 2018, the Open University of China (OUC) held a meeting related to the 2018 teaching evaluations.

“I was very unhappy before I began studying at Xi’an Radio & TV University (Xi’an RTVU). At that time, I had been working for many years, and had no time to spare for studying. But after entering Xi’an RTVU, thanks to its customised setup for working students, which integrates instruction via mobile terminal, face-to-face teaching, and independent study, my attitude changed.” These words are from a speech given by Wan Ming, a student named a “Learning Star” by Xi’an RTVU. His speech received loud applause, reflecting overall approval of the new teaching system.

On 30 November, 2018, a nearly month-long series of public lectures in Changchun came to an end.

A display of the achievements of the “Action Plan for Realising Dreams of Further Education” is being held at the Open University of China (Guangzhou), with its first enrolment of 1,043 students having acquired undergraduate or junior-college diplomas.
