In order to successfully conduct the online operation, publicity and advertisement, and use and management of the resource sharing platform for the universities for older adults affiliated to China's central state organs, the Financial Management Department of China’s National Government Offices Administration held a virtual meeting on the use and management of the platform on 25 August 2020.

Having completed scholarship evaluation for 2019, the Open University of China (OUC), after verification and public announcement, decided to grant OUC scholarships to 12,086 students.

“Internet Plus Education Innovation Research,” a key academic book series launched by the Open University of China (OUC) Press, was published in June 2020. The book series was included in the national key book publishing planning project in the 13th Five-year Plan in 2017 and was funded by the National Publication Foundation in 2020.

On 21 August 2020, the Open University of China (OUC) held its autumn semester work conference. Jing Degang, secretary of the Party committee and president of the OUC, gave a work report at the conference. Members of the leading group summarised the work they were responsible for and put forward ideas for future work.

On 15 August 2020, at the AI + Education Development Sub-forum of AIEXPO2020 jointly organised by the Open University of China (OUC), Baidu, and Baizhi Tiantuo Co., Ltd, Baidu and its cooperative partner Baizhi Tiantuo signed a cooperation agreement with the OUC on the establishment of the New Generation Information Technology College to boost the OUC’s vocational education for AI professionals

AIEXPO2020 kicked off in Suzhou International Expo Centre on 14 August 2020, sponsored by the Artificial Intelligence Industry Technology Innovation Strategy Alliance (AITISA). With the theme of “Revival of Everything - Future Intelligence" and integrating exhibitions, conferences, competitions, prize-giving, and performances, AIEXPO2020 aims to create a grand international event for AI technology.

Poverty alleviation has been one of the Chinese government’s core campaigns since 2013. Education is the key to breaking the inter-generational transmission of poverty. Thanks to the development of information technology, open and distance education has become an effective way of helping people affected by poverty access high quality education and transform their lives.

On 24 July, 2020, Wang De, head of the National Government Offices Administration, led a delegation to the Open University of China (OUC) to conduct research. The delegation took a tour of the "Internet plus University" Exhibition Centre, the Cloud Classroom, the HD Studio, and the Streaming Media Recording Room; it also held talks with Jing Degang, Party secretary and OUC president, Liu Chen, deputy secretary of the OUC Party committee, and other personnel.
