On 30 April 2022, the first session of the 2022 information technology research and academic exchange series of activities for young professionals on both sides of the Taiwan Straits was held in the Open University of China’s (OUC) immersive two-way video classroom.
To welcome the convocation of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Youth League of China, study and implement “Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a New Era”, and publicise the historic achievements and transitions since the 18th National Congress, the Open University of China (OUC) held an activity named “Telling Stories of Rural Revitalisation and Forming Progressive Youth” in its educational system on 28 April 2022. Jing Degang, secretary of the Party Committee and president of the OUC, delivered a speech.
On 28 April 2022, a meeting to launch the committee for the Old Age Health Preservation and Childhood Nurturing Programme of the Chinese Society for Technical and Vocational Education (CSTVE) was held in Beijing and Cangzhou.
Recently, the Xi’an·UCLG ASPAC Chinese Language Training Programme, co-sponsored by the Open University of Xi’an (OUX), the United Cities and Local Governments Asia Pacific (UCLG ASPAC) Section, and the Foreign Affairs Office of the Xi’an Municipal Government, was launched. It offers cloud-based distance teaching of Chinese language and culture in the Asia-Pacific region. So far, 171 civil servants, teachers and enterprises from 20 cities in 14 countries, including the United Kingdom, Russia, Brazil, Thailand, South Korea, the Philippines and Indonesia, have registered.
On 31 March 2022, the sub-committee for Agroforestry and Medicine of the Academic Committee of the Open University of China (OUC) held its first plenary meeting of the year.
The Open University of China (OUC) recently invited two experts on online course development, Ms. Yao Xueqing from the Learning Resources Department and Ms. Liu Hongwei from the research institute of Sunflower Online Education Technology Co., Ltd, to give special reports and conduct seminars for its faculty and staff to improve the quality of the development of course resources and their application effect, as well as to further understand the cutting-edge of online course development so as to advance the construction of “gold courses.”
Editor’s note: Along with the opening in Beijing of the fifth session of the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC) on 5 March 2022, and the fifth session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) on 4 March 2022, the OUC will keep its tradition of publicising “Two Sessions Deputies and Members from the OUC”, reporting on leaders, teachers, students or alumni who are also deputies and members of the two sessions, and aiming to enhance the image of the OUC while encouraging its teachers and students to work together toward the reform and development of open education.
There were 18,000 volunteers for the Olympics and more than 200,000 volunteers providing services within the city for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics Games.
