On 29 December 2022, the 21st China Conference on Distance Education 2022 was held online and offline with the theme of “Lifelong Learning and Digital Transformation of Education”.

Based on the national strategy, interdisciplinary and thematic discussions and exchanges were made on multiple fields from multiple dimensions to spread the new ideas and new achievements of education, and to promote the development of lifelong education and the digitalisation of education in China. Nearly 20,000 guests and representatives from the Ministry of Education, the ministries and commissions of relevant industries, industrial associations, colleges of continuing education and adult education nationwide, the Open University of China (OUC) system, vocational colleges, and industrial enterprises, attended the conference online, and around 150 guests and representatives gathered at the OUC, the main venue in Beijing.

The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Li Song, vice president of the OUC.

The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) stated the need to promote the digitalisation of education and build a society and country of learning where lifelong learning is pursued by all. Many wonderful views were shared at the 21st China Conference on Distance Education 2022 centred on the report delivered at the 20th National Congress of the CPC, which resonated strongly with the participants.
