On 24 September 2014, Beijing Educational Evaluation Institute visited the Open University of China (OUC) to conduct a survey. The survey aims to assess the development and construction situation since the establishment of the OUC was approved by the State; investigate if the current running mechanism can guarantee the overall operation of the OUC and meet the need for undergraduate teaching; and find out if there is an institutional guarantee for the OUC’s orientation.

The development and operation of the online courses and the 1st Sino-Norwegian High-level Seminar on MOOC was held in Beijing on September 18-20, 2014.

The seminar was jointly organized by the Research and Development Centre for Technology Integration and the Application of Digital Learning, the Ministry of Education and the Training Centre of the Open University of China (OUC).

Before an exam, do you still go to tutorial classes? Without going to classes, is it still necessary to borrow the notes of classmates? Do you still have to go to the library to search for information? Information technology has brought new modes for those learning needs. Through mobile terminals, the above mentioned requirements will be integrated into routine learning activities.

On 29 August 2014, a Workshop on the Application of Standards for Learning Outcomes Accreditation of the Credit Bank of the OUC was held in Beijing. At the workshop the experience in formulating the accreditation standards was summarized , and the standard accreditation models were further identified , including "Course sharing and mutual credit recognition", "Dual-certificate integration" and the "Construction of a lifelong learning pathway”.

On 27 August, 2014, the 1st “Municipal Level Education and ICT Competency Training” for teachers from secondary vocational schools in Wuhan was concluded. The training lasted 7 days, and nearly 200 teachers from 35 secondary vocational schools in Wuhan participated in the training.

To further promote noble morality, promote morality building, and encourage the majority of young teachers to have a heartfelt dedication to their teaching position, Henan Radio and TV University (Henan RTVU) held a morality speech contest on August 28, 2014.

 

According to the statement "Decision of the General Office of China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF) and the General Office of the Ministry of Education (MOE) on Granting Xu Jiacheng and 200 Other Teachers with Excellent Teacher of Education for the Disabled by the Bank of Communication" (CDPF Office Issuance [2014] No. 42), Ping Fan, Vice President of the OUC Tianjin School for the Disabled (hereinafter referred to “Tianjin School”) received the 2014 "Excellent Teacher of Education for the Disabled Granted by the Bank of Communication".

This year marks the 30th Teachers’ Day in China. It also happens to coincide with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Radio and TV Universities (RTVUs). On this special day, the Party Committee of The Open University of China (OUC) randomly interviewed dozens of teachers, students and staff at the Wukesong, Fuxingmen and Weigongcun Campuses. The interviewees looked back on unforgettable moments, using genuine words to express their sincere thanks to the OUC and its teachers.
