The 2014 enrollment meeting of The Open University of China (OUC) was convened in Harbin on June 6. The meeting summarized the OUC's enrollment for the spring of 2014, outlined enrollment goals for the autumn of 2014, and summarized the preparation of “The assistance plan of training and development for new-type industrial workers” (“assistance plan” for short).

The 2014 appraisal and selection results of the Open University of China (OUC) have been compiled, and 33 courses from 15 branches and two discipline schools have been announced as receiving "excellent" status.

In order to further boost the curricula construction of the OUC, improve course and teaching resource quality, and promote the co-construction and sharing of high quality teaching resources, in April, the OUC officially began the appraisal and selection of "excellent" courses for 2014.

From June 25th to 27th, 2014, the Standing Committee of the Open University of China (OUC) Library Work Council and the digital library training conference held a joint meeting in Yinchuan, Ningxia Province. The theme of the conference was the strengthening of the construction of the OUC's system-wide library, building an operating mechanism for a perfect system, and improving the service level and practicality of the digital library.

Three ceremonies: the inauguration of PCAERI of the OUC, Your Art Network (Art Education Network) of the OUC going online, and a news conference for the painting and calligraphy exhibition to celebrate the PCAERI, were held at the teaching building for distance education of the OUC on 20 June.

On 3 July 2013, the School of Art of the Open University of China (OUC) was established. The establishment of the School of Art was based on the OUC’s objective, positioning, and functions of running the school, with the aim of integrating better arts resources, propelling the construction of course resources, and carrying out social art education to satisfy the art education needs of all members of society in every respect, and to focus on offering non-degree education in the arts.

Recently, with a similar design plan, the “Firefly Innovator” team organized by students at the School of Computer and Communication of Shandong RTVU won third prize in the “China Innovator” National Universities Contest, with Rong Lili and Lian Lijun winning the title of excellent instructors.

In the oppressive summer heat of the morning of July 18th of 2014, Ye Liansheng, hailed as the “most beautiful old man” because of picking up more than 200,000 cigarette butts, carrying a plastic bag in his left hand and holding a self-made “magic tool” in his right hand, appeared again at the side of the canal. But the difference this time was that he was followed by a group of volunteers from the summer training class for student cadres of Zhejiang RTVU. In half a day, led by Mr. Ye, the students picked up thousands of cigarette butts.

On July 16th of 2014, Tianjin RTVU celebrated its 56th birthday. On the same day, the 5th Learning Festival was convened, and the Tianjin Lifelong Learning Network mutually organized by Tianjin RTVU and people.com.cn went online. Thus, Tianjin RTVU’s 5th Learning Festival and the 56th Anniversary were both held on the same day.
