Development of Open and Distance Education in 2012

In the past year, considerable progress has been made in open and distance education in China as well as in other countries.

The Open University of China (OUC) recently launched the RTVU system for international Chinese teacher training. The aims of the training are threefold: prepare teachers for international Chinese education within the RTVU system, facilitate the overseas expansion of  local RTVUs, and accelerate the internationalization of the OUC.

On January 5, 2013, the OUC Continuing Education School and the Yonyou Management Software College came together to hold the first management software application engineer training class at the OUC. 30 trainees from nine provinces and one city in China attended the class. 

On December 6, Haidian Community College became OUC's 45th community education experiential learning center. The unveiling ceremony was attended by Zhang Shaogang, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the OUC, Qiao Jian, deputy secretary of the Education Committee of Haidian District, and Pan Sifa, executive vice president of Haidian Community College. 

On December 3, 2012, the OER (Open Educational Resources) Asia Symposium was held at Guangdong Radio & TV University. Delegates from the Open University of China (OUC) attended the symposium.
