A few days ago, the Open University of China (OUC) finished recording the “Lectures on Chinese Ancient Civilization” course series and will now commence uploading them to the OUC website.

In the 1980s, the OUC produced a series TV courses named “Lectures on the History of Ancient Chinese Civilization”, including famous scholars such as Wang Li, Qi Gong, Tan Qixiang, Ren Jiyu, Yang Bojun, Ji Shuying.

In order to save and protect these precious video resources, the OUC has redesigned and reorganized the courses, and renamed it “Lectures on Chinese Ancient Civilization”. It has not only preserved the original explanations of the lecturer-in-chief, it has also repaired, completed, interpreted and expanded the original video with the help of literature, images, video materials, and modern technology. Now, the lectures can continue to serve the public through various routes of transmission, giving more people the chance to catch a glimpse of the scholars’ charm and wisdom.

This course has been selected for the 2013 National Publication Foundation funding project. Established in 2007, the National Publication Foundation is the third largest foundation of its type, after the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Natural Social Science Foundation of China. It is the most influential, highest quality policy-led publication support fund.
