LIU Yonghao, Han ethnicity, a native of Chengdu Sichuan Province. He is a major of electronics in the 1979 Class at Sichuan Open University and a senior engineer. He currently serves as a member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Board Chair and President of New Hope Group, Chair of New Hope Investments, Chair of Sichuan New Hope Agriculture, Chairman of Shandong Liuhe Group, a Supervisor with Minsheng Life Insurance, a member of the CPPCC, and Deputy Director of the Subcommittee of Economy of the CPPCC National Committee.
Since 1993, LIU has attended the National People's Congress (NPC) and the CPPCC for seven consecutive terms, either as an NPC deputy or a CPPCC member, submitting a total of 208 proposals and suggestions. Throughout this period, the healthy development of the private sector, poverty alleviation, and rural revitalisation have been his key focuses. He believes that talent revitalisation is the foundation and support for rural revitalisation.
LIU has observed the rapid development of new technologies, particularly in biotechnology and artificial intelligence. Agricultural industrialisation leading enterprises are advancing the application of genetic engineering and digital transformation. However, there is a significant talent gap in these areas, and market entities should play a more active role. In addition to focusing on talent development, LIU emphasises that for China's agricultural industry to achieve leapfrog development, it must rely on new technologies and organisational models. As the industry scales up, it is essential to drive transformation and innovation. He advocates using new thinking and digital capabilities to promote change in the agricultural industry, thereby reducing costs and improving efficiency.
LIU said, "Intelligence can drive the development of many industries. For example, in pig farming, with the latest technologies, we can better manage feeding, vaccinations, and disaster prevention. The same applies to cold chain logistics. Through intelligent systems, we can make warehouses, freezing, transportation, and vehicles real-time and data-driven. By integrating artificial intelligence, each terminal can simply use a mobile phone to issue voice commands for scheduling, arranging, ordering, and operating, thereby significantly enhancing industry efficiency."
This year, LIU Yonghao, a private entrepreneur who has been deeply rooted in agriculture for four decades, once again focuses on the issues of the times, offering advice for the modernisation of agriculture and rural areas as well as industrial innovation. He revealed that he has brought five proposals, focusing on three key areas: issues related to agriculture, rural areas and rural residents ("Three Rural Issues"), the growth of the private economy, and the promotion of poverty alleviation and rural revitalisation. These proposals include accelerating the integration of high-tech with traditional industries, enhancing agricultural technological innovation efficiency, strengthening the foundation of animal husbandry, transitioning from small to large-scale operations, improving farmers' profits, promoting collaboration between farmers and companies, establishing milk standards, improving the cold chain logistics system, and boosting consumer confidence.
