On 26 April 2019, the Open University of China (OUC) held a cloud classroom technology training meeting via remote video. Cloud classrooms from the OUC’s 43 branches participated in the meeting, while 186 sub-venues participated in the live broadcast.

During the period of COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control, the OUC’s cloud classrooms have played a key role in the development of course teaching activities and video management meetings, and have achieved good results and been widely praised by teachers and students All relevant branches have since applied to using the cloud classrooms. In order to help each of OUC’s branches better use the cloud classrooms for teaching and management, the OUC’s Information Technology Department planned and organised a training event.

The training event introduced the architecture, hardware system operation, and software platform operation for the three phases of the cloud classrooms, along with case studies on live teaching and video discussions. The operation process of each application scenario was also explained through a combination of technology and application scenarios. After the training, a Q&A session was held. The branches raised questions about the construction of cloud classrooms, the opening and use of cloud classroom accounts, and the teaching applications of the cloud classrooms. Teachers from the Information Technology Department answered each question one by one.

In order to comply with epidemic prevention and control measures, grass-roots teaching sites campuses in some prefectures and cities are still closed, which prevented the teachers from entering the physical cloud classrooms for technical training. Therefore, the training class was broadcast live to ensure that all technical personnel and teachers could participate in the training in real time.

The training event helped teachers and technicians to familiarise themselves with the basic operation, processes, and scenarios of cloud classroom applications, which laid a foundation for each branch to use cloud classrooms to carry out online teaching, hold teaching management meetings, and undertake relevant training activities from the Ministry of Education.
