As the platform with the most educational videos in China, Bilibili has become very popular. In September 2019, the Open University of China (OUC), through its Learning Resources Department (Digital Library), joined the website, and by making its high-quality courses available to the public, attracted 33,000 new members (and counting) to it, with the OUC in turn strengthening public awareness of its offerings.
On 7 September 2021, the first anniversary of a resource sharing platform for universities for older adults affiliated to China’s state organs, Wang Zhaoxu, director of the Financial Management Department of the National Government Offices Administration, together with four colleagues, toured the Open University of China (OUC) to investigate the development of online education at its University for Older Adults.
Aiming to enhance teaching in Law majors, the Ministry of Education (MOE) instructed the teaching committees of such majors in colleges and universities to bring in high-quality teachers from across the country, and use the national online-training platform for university teachers to present lectures on Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law. The Open University of China (OUC) offered 13 such lectures from 13 teachers, all among China's top jurists, biweekly from 28 May to 6 July 2021.
On the morning of 13 September 2021, a ceremony to mark the signing of a Memorandum of Strategic Cooperation between the Open University of China (OUC) and the People’s Government of Binzhou Municipality, as well as to unveil the OUC Rural Revitalisation College, was held at the Bohai Institute of Advanced Technology.
On 10 September 2021, a golden autumn day, the Open University of China (OUC) held a meeting to celebrate Teachers' Day 2021. Members of the university leadership attended along with faculty and staff, on-site or via webcast. Jing Degang, Party Committee secretary and OUC president, delivered a speech.
Recently, the Party Committee of the Ministry of Education, the Information Office of the Ministry of Education (MOE), and the China Education Press Agency jointly set up a column titled “Learning From and Implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping's Important Speech at the Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China” and successively published articles reflecting on studying the speech from some departments of and organisations direct affiliated to the MOE.
In order to enhance its culture and the cohesion and sense of belonging of teachers, the Faculty of Political Science and Law of the Open University of China (OUC) held a team-building “open space” event on 7 September 2021, brainstorming problems in the development of the faculty and solutions to these, and aiming to promote reform.
