At the recent graduation ceremony of the Open University of China (OUC, aka China Central Radio and TV University, CCRTVU) Bayi College for experimental classes, a moving scene of beauty unfolded. For the first time, army officers studying via distance education were able to don their own unique graduation gowns. They could hardly contain their great pleasure.

On October 21-23, 2014, the Open University of China (OUC) held the Seminar on the OUC Learner Support System Construction in Changsha City, Hunan Province, to explore the structure of the OUC learner support system construction, to make the online teaching process practical, and to improve online teaching quality.

On October 31, 2014, the Open University of China (OUC) and China Association of Social Welfare (CASW) signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement to jointly foster the construction of The OUC Open University for Older Adults. Yang Zhijian, Liu Chen, relevant department heads from the OUC, Executive Vice Chairman of CASW Zhang Mingliang, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of CASW Feng Xiaoli, and related personnel attended the signing ceremony.

A Symposium on Education for older adults by the Open University of China (OUC) was held on October 25-26, 2014 in Chengdu, China. The symposium focused on how to respond to the Ministry of Education, who is leading a special campaign on investigation and research tasks related to the National Development Plan on the Education for Older Adults (2016-2020), and discussed relevant topics on the planned subject of “Study of Education for Older Adults” for the OUC from 2012-2014.

Over the past few days, the 2014 Activity Week of Lifelong Learning for All, which has the theme “Lifelong Learning for All Creates a Colourful Life”, has been held in one place after another, with the Radio and Television Universities (RTVUs) in Tianjin, Shenyang, Changchun, Hunan Province, and more all sharing in the event. The various and colourful activities offered the citizens lots of benefits.

On October 16, 2014, the teaching discussion activity called “charming lecture”, which will last throughout the year, started in Fujian Radio and TV University (RTVU). The first lecture was given by three teachers from the English Department and the Department of Teaching Administration.

 

From October 17-21, 2014, “The Second National Harmony Community Calligraphy and Seal Cutting Exhibition”, jointly organized by the MOE Research and Training Centre for Community Education, the Calligraphy Education Committee of the Chinese Society of Education, Tianjin Calligrapher’s Association, Tianjin Lifelong Education Society and Tianjin Radio and TV University (Tianjin RTVU), was held at the Youth Palace of Tianjin’s Hexi District.

On October 25, 2014, the i-3D Print Experience Room designed and constructed by the OUC was officially put into use. Under the instruction of staff from the Research and Development Centre for Digital Learning of the Open University of China (OUC), more than ten teachers and students from Beijing Jingshan School learned about the operation of 3D printing technology, experienced the magical effects of the technology and printed 3D models in the Experience Room, which is located at Zhongguancun College in Haidian District.
